S5 or S7?
- Thatcham S5 — the higher rating. Comes with driver-recognition tags that live on your keyring; if the car moves without a tag nearby, the monitoring centre knows straight away. This is the one that defeats keyless theft.
- Thatcham S7 — location tracking with movement and tow alerts, without the driver tags. Perfectly good for insurers that ask for S7 and for owners who want to know where the car is.
Both are hidden in the vehicle and have their own battery, so they keep reporting if the car's battery is disconnected. A subscription covers the monitoring; we can include the first year when we fit it, and we'll tell you the renewal cost upfront rather than leaving it as a surprise.
