Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes retrofits

The options the first owner didn't tick, added as if they had.

Mercedes-Benz builds most of its options into the wiring and the software from day one, which is why a car ordered without CarPlay, a reversing camera or a digital cockpit can usually have them added later — and, done properly, they work exactly as they would have from the factory.

"Done properly" is the important part. A retrofit isn't finished when the part is bolted in. The car's own data record has to be updated so every module knows the option exists, or the new equipment throws errors, drops out after a service or simply never switches on. We do the coding ourselves, in the workshop, using dealer-level tools.

What we retrofit

We also take on cruise control, driver-assistance features, 360-degree cameras and TV tuners, and we're happy to quote for something that isn't listed. Owners bring cars to us from well outside Surrey for this work, and some ship them from further away still.

Digital cockpit retrofitted to an E-Class (W213)

E-Class digital cockpit

A W213 E-Class that left the factory with analogue dials and the small colour display between them. We fitted the 12.3" widescreen cluster, added the cooling fan the larger display needs, tied it into the car's ambient lighting so the colour themes match across the dash, and coded the option into the car so the dealer's diagnostic tools see a factory-fit car.
