Many Mercedes sold between 2015 and 2019 have the screen, the USB port and the software hooks for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but never had the option enabled. We add it as a genuine factory feature — the same menus, the same steering-wheel controls, the same voice button — by updating the head unit's firmware and the car's data record, and fitting the extra hardware on the cars that need it.
Which cars
- A, B, CLA and GLA-Class (W176, W246, C117, X156) with Audio 20 — from mid-2016 build dates
- C-Class and GLC (W205, W253) with Audio 20 or COMAND NTG5*1 — 2014 to 2018; earlier cars need a hardware upgrade
- E-Class (W213) with NTG5.5 — 2016 onwards
- GLE and GLS (W166, X166) with NTG5*2 — 2015 to 2019
- S-Class (W222) with NTG5*1 — 2014 to 2017
- SLC and AMG GT (R172, C190) with NTG5*2 — 2016 onwards
- V-Class and Vito (W447) with Audio 20 — 2015 onwards
Cars outside this list — older NTG4.5 models, for example — can still have CarPlay through a hidden interface or a replacement screen; we'll suggest the right route rather than force a factory activation that won't work. And if your car already has CarPlay but not Android Auto, that can usually be added on its own.
Price
£499 for the full factory retrofit on most cars, including the firmware update, the data-record change and set-up with your phone. Cars that need extra hardware (a newer USB hub or multimedia interface) are quoted individually once we've seen the chassis number.Check your car
Send the chassis (VIN) number and we'll confirm what your car can have and quote for it. It's usually a same-day reply.
